Sispony: Connection and balance between spaces

A home that blends fluidity, balance, and a strong contemporary character without losing its original essence. The Sispony project transforms a 1980s house through an intervention focused on connecting interior spaces, breaking established symmetry, and linking the interior to the natural surroundings. Structural constraints required the external volume to remain intact —a limitation that became an opportunity to rethink the layout and maximize spatial perception.

Spatial reconfiguration and interior simplicity
The original, fragmented distribution is restructured into a more fluid and functional arrangement. Superfluous corners and recesses are eliminated, allowing spaces to connect directly and visually with clarity. The interior materials were renewed to convey lightness and serenity, fostering a clean, bright, and cohesive atmosphere.

Structure as architectural language
One of the most distinctive gestures of the project is leaving the original structure exposed. This decision emphasizes constructive honesty and allows the original elements to engage in dialogue with he renewed design. The architecture reveals itself, showcasing its material essence and building identity hrough raw expression.

Broken symmetry: Sculpture and contrast
The desire to break the original symmetry materializes in sculptural gestures such as the black iron staircase, which acts as both a visual and spatial connector between the two levels. In contrast, the original 1980s fireplace is preserved —a warm, traditional focal point that contrasts with the minimalist lines of the new intervention.

Double-Height space and landscape connection
Unifying the two levels enhances cross-views and expands spatial perception. From various parts of the house, the openings frame exterior views, reinforcing the relationship between inside and outside. light, height, and landscape merge to create an open, immersive domestic experience.

Light and domestic versatility
Interior lighting enhances the adaptability of each space. Through a combination of ambient and accent lighting, the design allows for differentiated atmospheres within the same room, adapting to the changing rhythms of daily life.

Sispony is more than a renovation: it’s a statement of intent. An architecture that balances memory and contemporaneity, geometry and emotion, material and landscape.
